Rushed your profession specializations in World of Warcraft: The War Within? Yeah, I did too. Whether it was gathering or crafting, a lot of us picked the wrong tree (I picked the wrong mining tree on my Paladin) and then realized we wanted a do-over.
The problem was that a quick Google search will tell you the same thing over and over: you can’t reset specializations. You’re stuck forever.
Except, that’s not true. I found the NPC in Dornogal that lets you reset your profession specialization in War Within.
But there’s a catch, you only get one reset per specialization, per character. So if you’re going to do it, make sure you’re 100% certain about the new specialization path you want to follow. Once you reset, that’s it there’s no second chances.
Let’s break down exactly how to find this NPC and reset your spec properly.

Where to Reset Your Profession Specialization in Dornogal
To reset your profession specialization in The War Within, you’ll need to head to Dornogal which is the central hub city of the expansion. This is where you’ll find Darla Fluxy, the Consortium Knowledge Master. Yeah, the title sounds a bit pompous, but she’s the NPC you’re looking for.
You’ll find Darla Fluxy near The Fissure which is close to the alley that leads to the Azj-Kahet portal. She’s easy to miss if you’re just running around doing dailies, but once you know where she is then it’s a quick stop.

Talk to her like you would any other NPC. A UI window will pop up showing your current profession specializations. Then you just need to select the one you want to reset.
Here’s the important bit:
Once you pick a specialization to reset, a warning box will appear telling you this is a one-time reset. No backsies.
If you’re 100% sure, go ahead and confirm. That’s it. Your specialization is reset and you’ll be able to reassign your profession knowledge points however you want.
Quick. and easy but permanent. So don’t click randomly.

Final Thoughts on Resetting Profession Specializations in War Within
Resetting your profession specialization in World of Warcraft: The War Within is something many players don’t even realize is possible. Between outdated guides, half-answers on forums and long Reddit threads filled with confusion, it’s no surprise most people assume they’re stuck with their first choice. But as you now know, Darla Fluxy in Dornogal offers a simple, but limited, way to reset your gathering or crafting specialization.
Remember:
- This reset is one-time only per specialization.
- Make sure you’re absolutely sure before confirming.
- Once it’s done, you can’t undo it again.
So if you rushed into a tree like Mining, Herbalism, Blacksmithing, or Jewelcrafting without fully understanding how the profession points system worked or you simply changed your mind then this one-time reset gives you a second chance. Use it wisely.

If you’re really going into War Within professions, make sure to plan your specialization path with a bit of strategy. There’s so much of power hidden behind those trees, and the right path can make a big difference in making profit, getting gathering efficiency, or just how much fun you’re having in the game.
I’ll be posting more mini profession guides for The War Within, especially when it comes to easily missed features, confusing mechanics, or things I stumble across by accident. If this helped you out, feel free to bookmark the blog, share it with your guildmates, or just drop a comment.
And if you’re still grinding your way through your professions, good luck and maybe double-check where you’re spending those points next time.
Happy crafting and happy gathering!
